The Name Show at Madrid successfully concluded recently on 13/1/2017. The one day Spanish event for starts-up and domainers saw impressive number of participants. This is the fourth leg of the nationwide travelling events.
Dietmar Stefitz, who founded the show, informed MeanDomainer.com over the email that the one day event has been a resounding success and 150 domainers and representatives of start-up companies participated. A compelling list of speakers addressed the participants over a varied topics related to domaining and startups.
The event was anchored by Mr. Stefitz himself. The first session was addressed by Jesús Alonso Gallo, founder of Restaurantes.com on the topic ‘From Serial Employee to Serial Entrepreneur; From Serial Entrepreneur to Serial Investor’ in Spanish. He shared experience of his journey as a domain investor with the participants.
The next address was delivered by ICANN’s Andrea Beccalli on nGTLDs domains. He spoke about history of ICANN and its policies in respect of nGTLDs. He also spoke in detail about IDN (Internationalised Domain Names) and its potentialities. He was the only one to deliver his speech in English.
Robert Fernadez Grau, CEO of Register.es delivered an interesting and thought provoking lecture on the theme ‘Everything Starts With a Domain. He explained how hard work and effort can go in vain if a right domain is not chosen.
Immediately after Grau’s address, trademark law expert Paz Martin delivered a well received lecture on ‘Legal Aspects of Domain Numbers’ in Spanish. She made the audience aware of trademark related questions pertaining to domain names and cautions domainers and startups need to take.
After lunch, Ramon Rautenstrauch and Milagro Martinez did very comprehensive talk on nGTLD, its history, technicalities involved, and how to make money using the new extensions. They discussed in detail how nGTLDs can be used by starts up to rank competitively in search engine.
The lecture was followed by a round table discussion by a team of experts comprising Antonio Villarmarin, Ana Subijana of Sedo and Jose Vicente Gomar, CEO of Exagoms.com. The discussion theme was ‘My Startup and Domain’. Villarmarin spoke at length how startups can develop their domains while Subijana educated audience importance of right domain name for a startup. Gomar introduced participants the website development services his company provides.
The one day event was concluded with a vote of thanks by host and anchor Stefitz to the speakers, participants and sponsors of the show. The next ‘TheName.Show’ is scheduled to be held at Barcelona on 7th April this year.
